Function over form

Part of my decision to get the droid was because it was extremely well built, however I am feeling better and better about my decision to get it the more I use it. It's not pretty in the traditional sense with curved edges, and everything fitting perfectly together. It was built entirely for function, no sacrifices were made for this thing to make it look better.

  • Full 3.5 mm headphone jack positioned not on the side under some stupid little cover, but right at the top in the middle so that when you put it in your pocket you can have the cable come straight out

A sense of humor

Sometimes it makes all the difference, Google in particular frequently suprises me with little things every once in a while. This is what it shows when you type more than 500 characters in a text message using the Google Voice web portal. I removed the message/number for privacy.

Where it normally shows the number of characters it just shows "Really?"

Android

I am having some issues with my current provider. All I have is texting, and right now, it's not working with Google Voice. Instead of passing my texts, it's just calling people that I text with a computerized voice. Very annoying, and I have given them 3 weeks to fix the problem, haven't heard anything back yet.

I would really like to go the android route because of the Google Voice and Skype integration, so basically any phone that I get I will have unlimited text, data, and voice with just a data package.

Boxee Box

It's coming out in Q2 2010, and I will have paid for mine the moment it's available to purchase. It's supposed to come out at a price under $200.

The Boxee Box is being made by D-Link, has all the features of the Boxee software, Wireless N, HDMI, and a RF remote will a full qwerty keyboard.

Synergy

Most computer Geeks have at least two computers. For the vast majority of us, that means a desktop and a laptop.

I am a man that appreciates good periferals, I have a nice logitech keyboard, and the best mouse that they currently offer, so when I am forced to use my laptop's little chicklet keyboard, and horrible touchpad it physically pains me. The trouble is, I frequently need to use both at the same time if only just for the additional screen real estate.

Geek Squad

I know what you are thinking. They are right there, they are easy to speak to, and they have a sweet car. However, possibly the worst thing that you can do with your hard earned money is give it to Geek Squad. They are overpriced, slow and incompetent.

Hear is a good example of all three

And another good example from work:

Generation Gap

At work I frequently deal with customers who either have never operated a computer before, or simply haven't done it enough to be familiar with anything. This isn't that big of a deal, everybody's got to start somewhere, and computers most definitely have a learning curve.

brite-view

Bravo brite-view. You issued a update that bricked my media streamer. It's ok it happens. What impressed me more is that simply by sending an email, you have a new replacement on it's way to my home. Thank you very much...

Edit 2-27-10: I already got tracking information. UPS Ground. I love this company.

Quality equipment

So, you are sitting there staring at newegg. You are trying to decide if you can go with the cheap mouse/keyboard/router/hub/ect.. or spend the couple of dollars extra to get the good one.

Server

If you are seeing this, you are on my bright and shiny new server. I just spent the last few hours optimizing the mysql server and setting up automated backups. I'm glad that I am back managing it on my own again.
